Dear Sir Gilbert Grindle,
I am in receipt of your letter and enclosures of the 23rd instant, regarding the exhibit of Hong Kong at the British Empire Exhibition.
So far as I am personally concerned, this is the first I have ever heard of the matter. I only took over my duties here on the 16th instant, and what has happened was antecedent to that date. However, I will go into the matter and let you know what my views are as soon as I have acquainted myself with the present position,
Yours sincerely,
Sir Gilbert E. Grindle, K.C.M.G., C.B.,
Colonial Office,
Downing Street, S.W.1.
